Machine Sewn Shirt with Hand Sewn Cuffs

A simple 18th century shirt, mostly machine sewn with all visible stitching on the cuffs done by hand, as well as a line of hand sewn backstitching along the top of the collar. The cuffs are made with two buttonholes to accommodate 18th century sleeve buttons, and the collar closes with handmade thread buttons. When worn with a kerchief or neck stock, waistcoat, and coat, all visible stitching is hand sewn.

This shirt is made with a high quality linen/cotton blend. We see many accounts of linen cotton blend clothing and fabrics in the late 18th Century, with one of our favorite accounts being Ezra Tilden using his new linen cotton shirt to wrap up some cheese.
